This is John Chamberlain who was a chaplain for soldiers from the U.S. state of Maine during the American Civil War (1861-1865). John Chamberlain survived the Civil War but tragically died shortly thereafter at age 29. Look at his eyes. Several other vintage photographs are outlined below.
